Sometimes in the background, a clock with a tropical island on it is seen hanging on his wall behind the spotted chair. There is also a door in the other corner of his room (between the 70's fireplace and his record player) that leads to his personal bathroom. At the end of "To Sir with Ed," the door which usually leads to the backyard leads to Eddy's living room instead. In Ed, Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show, the door that leads to his personal bathroom leads to the hallway instead. Yes, Eddy residents must sign a minimum 30 Day California residential lease. “When it was just the graveyard person, they would have to be cleaning the facility while checking to see if the clients are okay, if they're still sleeping, if they need anything, and also potentially dealing with people who might come in from outside,” one former employee said. Many members come to the Eddy House from minority groups and the LGBTQ+ community, as well as broken and toxic households. Compared to the den, the living room is furnished with green flooring though it's noticeably lacking in actual furniture save for a rug, a potted plant, and a framed picture of a beach. The living room contains the landing for the stairwell that leads to the second floor as well as cased openings that lead to the kitchen and hallways. In "Over Your Ed," it was shown to have a large walk-in closet called the "Closet of Dreams." Curiously, while it contains a multitude of clothes, Eddy is only seen wearing his normal clothes, the clothes that his parents just bought him, and his coat. Eddy's closet may have access to hammerspace, as his closet looks very long, yet his house doesn't have a long piece that matches the length of the closet.

Eddy's personal bathroom was first seen at the beginning of "Over Your Ed" and then made appearances in "X Marks the Ed," "A Twist of Ed," and "Cleanliness Is Next to Edness." Eddy's house is briefly seen in Ed, Edd n Eddy's Boo Haw Haw near the end. Only his front door area is seen, decorated with a jack-o-lantern, two faux tombstones, and a stereotypical iconic image of a witch's head mounted on the door.

Eddy has a white and pink, retro-styled room that also has a door that leads to his backyard. For sleeping, he has a king-sized circular bed with a box of tissues on top of the headboard. Below it is a moderate food and drink supply designed to act as a 'bunker' in case of emergency. The dresser is later seen, in "To Sir with Ed," moved inside Eddy's closet.

The reason why it's Eddy's personal bathroom is because the only way to enter it is through a door in Eddy's room. An exception is in "X Marks the Ed," where it's on the second floor, suggesting it's a general bathroom for the house, also supported by it holding many of his parents' healthcare products in that same episode. Separated from the living room by a hallway, the den is lined with wooden flooring and contains much more suitable furnishing than the living room such as a couch, shelving cabinet, end table, lamp, and a stereo system. The den is also directly connected to Eddy's bedroom via a door in the corner (though this is contradicted in later episodes where the door is shown to lead directly into his personal bathroom).

Photos & Fun Facts About Abandoned California Theme Parks

Today it’s The Pike at Rainbow Harbor shopping complex, which does have a ferris wheel. Every once in a while, they’ll take a few years to replace old favorites with new lands to feature new brands (Harry Potter or Cars or Star Wars). But once upon a time, from the early days of the city until as late as the 1970s and ’80s, Los Angeles was home to dozens of more freewheeling amusement parks.

Japanese Village and Deer Park

#5 – Wonderland Amusement Park (San Diego) — The first amusement park in San Diego and one of earliest California theme parks, Wonderland was a a tiny wonder at just 8 acres. Yet, the park offered dozens of diversions for its visitors, including the largest roller coaster on the West Coast at the time, a carousel, dance hall, bowling alley, and a menagerie of animals large and small. Here are the lost locations of 18 of LA’s most spectacular lost amusement parks. The original Busch Gardens opened in 1906 in Pasadena, on land surrounding the Busch family’s mansion, but it was actually just gardens. The first Busch Gardens theme park opened in Tampa in the 1950s; the one adjacent to Anheuser-Busch’s brewery in Van Nuys opened in 1966, with a monorail, boat rides, lagoons, thousands of rare birds, and free beer.

Voters stating no party preference account for more than a fifth of the electorate. Venice Lake Park opened in 1950 with rides for little kids, like the Little Dipper rollercoaster, a miniature railroad, and a Zeppelin ride. The next year, William Boyd, aka movie cowboy Hopalong Cassidy, became a partner and the park was rebranded as Hoppyland, with lots of space dedicated to pony rides. Apparently Boyd appeared at the park regularly to tell kids to eat their vegetables and mind their manners.

Fraser's Million Dollar Pier

And yes, it's as pleasant as you'd imagine to sit on The Bush Farmhouse's mostly open-air back porch or outdoor picnic tables and gaze out over the grounds and gardens, sip wine and eat massive prawns straight from the grill. Henegan had already inherited the chickens and roosters from his landlord, the former owner of Roots and Fruits, who moved out of state. Henegan's reputation as an animal rescuer grew, and soon he had adopted Meg and Jane, the mini donkeys, and Petals and Paddles, the white Pekin ducks that roam the property.

BEER IS LOVE

A meticulous reproduction of the Banbury Cross Old Mill was later constructed and became an iconic landmark for the popular Pasadena park. Barnes sold off some of his land to people who wanted to build homes and once they’d built those homes, they weren’t so crazy about the roar of lions and chattering of monkeys. After a complicated Culver City incorporation battle, Barnes moved the park to Baldwin Park in 1927. The pier burned down in 1920 but was rebuilt and reopened with many of the same attractions in 1921. It continued to grow until 1946, when the city’s recreation and parks department refused to renew the lease. As part of his ambitious Venice of America development, Abbot Kinney commissioned a pleasure pier at the end of Windward Avenue.

Henegan sources other produce from the Black Mountain Tailgate Market, but expects the restaurant to ultimately be self-sustaining between what's grown onsite and on the nearby riverside land of Falcon Construction owner David Ross, also Henegan's business partner. The chef said he doesn't miss cooking inside at all, and customers delight in the smell of the grill on the restaurant's third of an acre, he said. From that grill, Henegan turns out a host of rotating proteins including whole branzino, Hickory Nut Gap T-bones and porterhouse steaks. The bobotie is described as curried meatloaf with demi-glace, saffron rice and yellow raisins.

Murphy Ranch

Some things come out cold, some dishes you don’t even see, but in the end, you didn’t hate it. Henegan’s new concept could be described as a romantic vision - South African dishes flow from an outside kitchen comprised mainly of a grill and griddle, beverages are mixed to order at a covered bar while patrons are enjoying the garden and farm animal views. Over a glass of Graham Beck Brut Rosé, the South African wine with which Nelson Mandela toasted his release from prison and also enjoyed with the Obamas when they visited South Africa, Mark talks about the ethos of The Bush Farmhouse.

As of 1990, it was abandoned and in a state of disrepair, and covered in graffiti.[2] The site is currently owned by the city of Los Angeles. In early 2016, many of the ranch buildings were demolished, as they were deemed unsafe. A few buildings remain, including the power house, an all-concrete building that once contained the diesel generators.

The land itself was leased from the Beverly Oil Company, and came with a giant oil well, which Bradley disguised as a dragon. When Marineland of the Pacific opened in 1954 on a cliff at the edge of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, it was the world's biggest oceanarium, with two huge tanks circled by exterior ramps winding up three levels (plus rooftop viewing). Apparently this was all very expensive to keep up, let alone keep updating; attendance dropped through the early ’60s and POP finally closed in 1967.

The park became Hanna-Barbera's Marineland in the late ’70s, then sold to SeaWorld in 1987. They shipped various animals off to their park in San Diego and closed Marineland down. There used to be a 35-acre amusement park in Historic South-Central, just south of Downtown LA. It began in 1887 as Washington Gardens, which hosted weekly variety shows, displayed various animals and a panorama of the Battle of Gettysburg, and eventually included an ostrich farm, according to the Downtown News.

Mark’s a seasoned chef, with a long and storied career from Il Buco in New York City, to the opening of his restaurant Madiba in Brooklyn in 1999, and then another Madiba opening in Harlem in 2014. He moved back to NC in the 2000s and split his time between here and New York. When Mark adopted Candy the Pig, the restaurant’s mascot, he was told she was a “miniature teacup pig.” She must weigh more than 200 pounds now. Ducks and chickens provide eggs, but the animals generally live a life of leisure—one that reflects the experience intended for human visitors to The Bush. With the closure of the Los Angeles Anheuser-Busch promotional facility and bird sanctuary in 1979, the era of the original Busch Gardens tourist attractions officially came to an end on the West Coast. The incredible horticultural heritage of the Busch Gardens Pasadena park carried into the lush landscape of the Busch Gardens parks in Tampa and Williamsburg.

Calvert has a history of voting against LGBTQ+ rights, as The Times has previously reported, but said during the 2022 campaign that his views had since evolved. That record will almost certainly come under fire in the Coachella Valley as he faces off against Rollins, a gay man who lives with his partner in Palm Springs. The rematch between Republican Rep. Ken Calvert and Democrat Will Rollins is one of several 2024 California races that will help determine which party controls the House. The Riverside County seat also became slightly more favorable to Democrats in the last round of redistricting, with the addition of Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage on its eastern edge. This is yet another rematch from 2022, with Democratic former federal prosecutor Will Rollins once again hoping to unseat Rep. Ken Calvert (R-Corona), the longest-serving member of California’s congressional delegation.

Issues regarding water — including water access for agriculture, as well as water quality and water availability in wells — will also be crucial, along with healthcare access issues, said Thomas Holyoke, a professor of political science at Fresno State University. The district has a slight Latino majority, with white voters also accounting for nearly 40% of the electorate, according to data from California Target Book. It includes cities like Madera, Ceres and Merced and portions of Modesto and Turlock, as well as rural swaths of the San Joaquin Valley. Democrats and Republicans are virtually tied in registration numbers, with Republicans recently taking on a several thousand-voter advantage, as of early April.

Calvert — who has represented parts of the Inland Empire for more than three decades — narrowly staved off Rollins last cycle in a race that was far more competitive than expected. This time, Rollins will be aided by the full backing of the Democratic Party and far more fundraising support. The fact that Tran is the son of Vietnamese immigrants and has a Vietnamese surname could help him build name recognition but won’t be determinative, DeSipio said.

It wasn't much, just a riding ring and a bunch of ponies, but it benefited from its neighbor's popularity. It outlasted BP by a few years before shuttering to make way for the Beverly Center. Once a fairground and baseball field, Beverly Park opened in 1943, but really came into its own in 1945, when it sold to a man named David Bradley.

Fraser’s Million Dollar Pier was rebuilt once again in 1925 as the Ocean Park Pier (this time in fireproof concrete), opening with an Egyptian Ballroom, an aerial swing, a rollercoaster, a fun house, and more. It was expanded in 1929 with “the highest amusement chute and the only one ever built on a pier,” according to Westland, plus a ferris wheel and an Aero Glider. While the briefly popular Ocean Beach neighborhood landmark is long gone, Wonderland remains a vibrant part of San Diego’s history and is honored today in the historical theme of the city’s aptly named Wonderland restaurant and pub.

Visitors could watch the alligators devour live chickens and wrestle with humans, buy alligator skin products in the gift shop, or ride a saddled alligator. In 1958, Ocean Park’s amusement pier joined the space age, emerging as Pacific Ocean Park, designed by Fred Harpman, who’d designed parts of Disneyland’s Main Street and would go on to art direct Deliverance. POP included some of the old buildings and some fantastic new ones, like a starfish entryway canopy. There was also Infant Incubators, where premature babies could get free medical care from trained nurses. Fraser rebuilt and the pier was expanded with new attractions over the next several years as it passed to new owners.

Six California House races that could help determine control of Congress

Valadao regained his seat in 2020 and was one of 10 House Republicans to vote for Trump’s impeachment after the Jan. 6 insurrection. Once a safely ruby-red Republican domain, California’s 22nd Congressional District is in a part of the San Joaquin Valley that has grown increasingly purple in recent years, with Democrats now holding the registration advantage. “I think Tran has much more of an uphill battle to be able to get his issues and his name into voters’ minds,” DeSipio said. That will be compounded by two things, said UC Irvine political science professor Louis DeSipio. Steel has a massive fundraising advantage, with more than $3 million on hand compared to Tran’s nearly $200,000. Baugh also has some vulnerabilities, including a political misconduct case he faced in the 1990s that resulted in a $47,900 fine.

Chutes Park

The problematic-sounding Japanese Village and Deer Park was opened in 1967 by a man named Allen Parkinson, who developed Sleep-Eze. The 29-acre park was inspired by a trip to Japan’s Nara Deer Park and featured exotic deer, a somersaulting bear, a tiger, a rollerskating macaw, a Japanese teahouse, a poker-playing koi fish, and “an overwhelmingly Asian staff,” according to KCET. It sold in 1910 and reopened in 1911 as Luna Park, with a new Nemo’s Trip to Slumberland attraction, which ran 600 feet along Main Street. That didn't take either, and the site sold in 1912 to a group who wanted to make it into a park for African-Americans; that plan never got off the ground. As we canceled the appetizers that never arrived and paid the check, I decided to view dinner at Bush Farmhouse like going to a party at someone’s house. The host will be out back manning the grill, tables are pieced haphazardly to accommodate the crowd, but the sun’s out, the kids are playing, the roosters are crowing and most are smiling.

A farmworker’s son and a dairy farmer battle to represent the Central Valley in Congress

The park was trimmed back to only its birds in 1977 and finally closed in 1979 (the birds were distributed to various zoos and other theme parks, but descendants of some are said to still fly the Valley skies). # 4 – Pacific Ocean Park (Santa Monica) — This 28-acre nautically themed amusement park opened in 1958 as a direct competitor of Disneyland in nearby Anaheim. The park, which featured a large pier, many rides, a sea circus with performing animals, and snack bars, was an instant hit with locals and tourists — but that was to be short lived. Al Barnes first opened his circus in the 1910s near the Venice Lagoon, but locals weren’t crazy about having a circus in town, so he moved in 1920 to a 120-acre former ranch site in what is now the western end of Culver City. After changing hands a few times, the park sold in 1956 to a couple of 20th Century Fox executives, who renamed it Jungleland; by then there were lions, tigers, hippos, and orangutans, and famous animals including Mr. Ed and Leo the MGM lion.

During the 2022 cycle, Porter hammered Baugh on those campaign violations, as well as his antiabortion stance. That rough primary also put Min at a financial disadvantage going into November. He and Baugh have both raised around $2.3 million, but as of the last campaign finance filing period, Min had a little more than $400,000 left in his war chest, whereas Baugh had $1.9 million.

Henegan's restaurant is built into a 1912 farmhouse, and he said he did not want to disturb the building by adding a hood system to the all-electric indoor kitchen, so any cooking that would require ventilation happens on an outdoor grill and flattop. The farmhouse used to be owned by a woman named Grandma Lindsay and had a couple of other iterations before it became The Bush—including as Roots and Fruits Market and the Full Moon Café. “I walked down the street and I saw it was closing and I was like, this is meant to be,” says owner Mark Henegan.

Durban style curry or bunny chow can also be found on the menu as well as bobotie. The night we went was beautiful, late in October with temperatures still in the 70s. However, plenty of staff wandered the premises, giving the impression that service would be fast. Mark Henegan, the chef and owner, hails from South Africa, spending most of his life in kitchens. Asheville knows Henegan from The Asheville Public or TAP, formerly in the River Arts District.

But there were also several other California theme parks that shuttered their doors over the past decades. The closure of both Busch Gardens Pasadena and Busch Gardens Los Angeles left Southern California with 2 fewer amusement parks. While there haven’t been any Busch Gardens California theme parks since the 1970s, there is SeaWorld in San Diego, which is operated by the same company that also owns Busch Gardens in Tampa and Williamsburg. I’m not only a Busch Gardens historian, but I’m also a theme park enthusiast, and I enjoy sharing my knowledge of old theme parks with others. The older of the 2 operating Busch Gardens theme parks opened in Tampa in 1959. Today, Busch Gardens theme parks are major draws in Florida and Virginia — but they’re no longer found in the West.

Housed in the old Roots and Fruits Market in Black Mountain, the new owner took over the space, rescuing the animals that lived outside the market and café while at it. The park closed in 1967 and was demolished by 1975 following fires and other vandalism. Only a few pier pilings from the attraction remain today, but evidence of the park exists on surviving film of several TV programs that were shot there, including The Man From U.N.C.L.E., The Invaders, and Get Smart. The park closed in 1977 and today the site of the former theme park, once located at 6122 Knott Ave, is now a business center. As in the 13th District to the north, economic issues and inflation will likely be top of mind for these voters.

In 1977, the park was formally converted to a promotional facility for Anheuser-Busch — with much of the property dedicated to serving strictly as a bird sanctuary. A second Busch Gardens park, this one boasting a tropical theme, opened in Van Nuys in 1964 — a decade after the adjacent Anheuser-Busch brewery came online. Meanwhile, the Busch Gardens property was sold off in parcels to developers — with many retaining original elements of the park. Some of the Busch Gardens property was sold to developers, but Lilly kept much of the attraction open by granting use of the property to the Pasadena Hospital Association in 1920. The park was open 7 days a week during this period, and a massive team of more than 50 gardeners maintained the lush attraction.

"I want to thank President Marcus Thompson and Vice President and Athletics Director Ashley Robinson for giving me this amazing opportunity to serve as the head women's basketball coach at Jackson State University," Richards said. We ask that you consider turning off your ad blocker so we can deliver you the best experience possible while you are here. “I’m creating a whimsical and colorful kind of magical spot,” Jain says of her colorfully painted birdhouses, collectively arranged in the style of a mandala. “I want people to connect with their inner child in experiencing this artwork. Mandala art is spiritual and symbolic and embodies relaxation and concentration.” Jain, whose works have been featured in Charlotte’s Festival of India and the 100 Tiny Things Project, originally hails from the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Her hand-painted shoes have paid homage to history, social justice movements and breast cancer awareness, among other things.

Festival Events

In addition to location accessibility, CIAF’s programming was largely free and open to the public, with ticketed events starting at $5, making the arts accessible to all facets of the community, many of whom may not have had access to the arts to this degree before. The inaugural arts festival presented a variety of acts representing more than 10 countries with more than 200 events across the city. With many events and installations occurring in Ballantyne’s Backyard, CIAF also marked the first time Blumenthal Performing Arts extended a large swath of its programming 20 miles outside of Uptown, making CIAF events more accessible to a larger audience. CIAF’s contribution to Charlotte’s arts ecosystem goes beyond bringing the community a joyful two-week celebration. Each artist is compensated for their work, and their art is expected to be experienced by tens of thousands of people. In this spirit of collaboration, Charlotte’s long-running Festival of India and the Latin American Festival have joined CIAF as partners and will hold their festivals under the CIAF umbrella.

This year’s featured acts include Architects of Air, out of Nottingham, UK, an immersive walk-through experience that invites visitors to a world apart from the normal and everyday through labyrinthian tunnels and cavernous domes of saturated color accompanied by a gentle sensory soundscape. The exhibit plays through the entirety of the festival, September 16–October 2 in Ballantyne’s Backyard. When Blumenthal was shut down in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it received a Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) from the federal government. Much of that funding went toward the launch of the festival, with the aim of getting people back to work. With SVOG, Blumenthal was able to put more than half a million dollars toward the creative talent behind the festival, from projection artists to theatrical storytellers, dancers, technicians, and more.

One stage is on Levine Avenue, and the other a few blocks away in Wells Fargo Plaza. After a particularly long, brutally hot summer in Charlotte, the seasons are once again beginning to change, coaxing residents out of their air-conditioned bunkers to enjoy cooler temperatures, and Charlotte's array of annual fall festivals. Levine Avenue of the Arts will also see the return of free performances on the Levine Stage and the Festival Biergarten, featuring food and drinks, including Blumenthal’s signature beer, Brush Stroke, developed in partnership with Heist Brewery. The Biergarten will be open Mondays–Thursdays from 3 pm–10 pm, Fridays from 3 pm–11 pm, Saturdays from 11 am to 11 pm, and Sundays from 11 am–9 pm.

Additionally, artists are needed to paint corn hole boards, picnic tables, and more for the CIAF Biergarten. Artists should visit the website for more information or to submit applications. Jain is one of nine local artists selected as a 2023 Blumenthal Fellow and awarded grants for their work by Blumenthal Performing Arts (BPA), the festival’s organizer and producer. BPA awarded $85,000 to this year’s fellows as part of its mission for the festival to bring together local and global artists in a cultural celebration.

Guests can expect art, food and other item that represent the diversity and creativity of the city. This year, CIAF will feature more than 200 events at more than 15 venues across the city. Many of the events are free and open to the public; ticketed events start at $5. Uptown Charlotte will also have two outdoor stages featuring an array of daily concerts and live performances.

The new energized and inclusive fitness center, focused on multiple approaches to fitness from personal training, individual workouts, specialized classes, weight rooms, and a water massage chair, confirm TIAA’s commitment to employee wellbeing. A live moss wall and custom reception desk of timber sourced directly from TIAA’s campus. Smart-technology lockers, large changing rooms, walk-in showers, and intuitive wayfinding complemented by graphics and invigorating lighting heighten the experience. To encourage employees to experience time outdoors, the campus also provides walking trails, mini golf, bocce ball, pickle ball, and basketball courts. With the company’s stated commitment to the environment in mind, TIAA protected the natural wetlands providing a welcoming wellness moment. And while it wasn’t her own house the Ballantyne resident and multidisciplinary artist was constructing, her focus and commitment to the project was nonetheless all-consuming.

“Lotty” by Moradavaga, a participatory art installation, is out of Portugal and Italy. The installation features a giant squid influenced by the best-known writings of Herman Melville and Jules Verne. The tube-like, orange creature allows visitors to look through the squid’s eyes and walk over its lengthy tentacles. Fans of the glowing model Earth in Founders Hall may also want to check out the immersive “Bella Gaia” show, at the Booth Playhouse Sept. 30 - Oct. 1. The show is inspired by astronauts who have seen Earth from space and features live music, dance and satellite imagery.

Members of Charlotte’s international cultural groups will be invited to represent their communities with a table at the CIAF International Bazaar on September 30th in Founder’s Hall. Reps can sell products or share information, all with the aim to spotlight the organizations, artisans, and craftspeople in Charlotte’s multicultural communities. The 23,000-square-foot food hall, the largest of the amenities, is a flexible hub—an environment for dining, collaboration or focused work, and recreation.

This festival will take place September 13 to 29, 2024, in locations in Uptown Charlotte and Ballantyne. The mini-festival-within-a-festival kicks off CIAF with a celebration of Charlotte’s hip hop culture and artists with performances, DJ and B-Boy battles, a block party, and more. Big, bold images from festival events are paired with bright colors and statement artwork as a backdrop for language that plays with the festival’s acronym, CIAF. For example, an image of Lotty by artist collective Moradavaga, a largescale interactive sculpture of a squid, is paired with the line “Calamari is Attacking Festival.” The campaign sparks its audience to do a double-take, then interpret for themselves.

(August 26, 2022) Charlotte, NC – Charlotte is less than a month out from the launch of the first ever Charlotte International Arts Festival—or CIAF—the ambitious display of arts and culture that will take over the Queen City for 17 days of discovery, play, and creativity September 16–October 2. Earlier this year, the Leon Levine Foundation pledged $100,000 to support CIAF. This newest pledge marks the foundation’s largest gift to the nonprofit performing arts organization to date. Several of last year’s most popular attractions will return, including a large-scale installation by Moradavaga, a collaborative of Italian and Portuguese architects. They’ll feature Lotty, a giant interactive squid sculpture complete with acoustic properties. Birdmen, the large-scale animated puppets, also returns with new surprises for children and those young at heart.

(August 7, 2023) Charlotte, NC – Blumenthal Performing Arts announced the lineup for the 2023 Charlotte International Arts Festival (CIAF), a Blumenthal Performing Arts Original, returning to Uptown Charlotte and Ballantyne September 15–October 1. The annual festival uniquely brings together Charlotte's local and international communities with global artists in a cultural celebration filled with live performances, art installations, food from around the world, and more. A spree of creativity, innovation, and art, CIAF offers something for every taste, culture, expression, and budget, with more than 200 events across multiple genres, the majority which are free and open to the public, with ticketed events starting at $5. The Charlotte International Arts Festival (CIAF), a Blumenthal Arts Original, uniquely brings together Charlotte's local and international communities with global artists in a cultural celebration filled with live performances, art installations, food from around the world, and more.

Visitors will get to see a giant sea squid, circus performers, big inflatable pillow people, giant airheads (not the candy), and interact with larger-than-life bird puppets, which proved a hit during the festival's launch in 2022. For the full festival lineup, keep an eye on charlotteartsfest.com and @cltartsfest for the most up-to-date information. Each selected artist will receive a 60-minute time slot for performing outdoors in either Uptown Charlotte or Ballantyne. Each selected artist or group will receive a stipend of $1,000 for a full-length performance or $250 for a pop-up performance. Wilson’s exhibit Heart and Sole CLT preserves the city’s soul and history and combines it with the present by using the Air Jordan 1 High OG — the iconic shoe of one of the city’s most famous residents, Michael Jordan — as the canvas. The exhibit will be on display at The Brooklyn Collective throughout the festival’s run.

In its second year, CIAF features dozens of local, national and international artists, musicians and performers, along with food from across the globe, at more than 200 attractions (many free) across multiple sites in uptown and Ballantyne from Sept. 15 through Oct. 1. Fun for everyone, from families to individuals, we invite you to participate in imaginative arts’ experiences throughout our city over the course of 17 days. We invite you to stay awhile, play, and welcome curiosity, as we begin to see our city through new eyes. CHARLOTTE — Blumenthal Performing Arts is set to bring its annual celebration of visual and performing arts to venues across Charlotte from Sept. 15 – Oct. 1. This year, the festival is also partnering with Festival of India for an event at Belk Theater on Sept. 23 with Indian dance, food, art and music, as well as the Latin American Festival for an “interactive village” with a marketplace, performances, food and music the same day at Ballantyne’s Backyard.
